      This paper draws together, for the use of this conference, materials from the books "Indexing Languages and Thesauri: Construction and Maintenance" (SOERGEL 1974) and "Dokumentation und Organisation des Wissens" (SOERGEL 1971). I saw my task in the synthesis of ideas for a specific audience rather than in the presentation of new ideas
